GSA/FGS Graduate Student Inclusion Scholarship

The University of Calgary and the Graduate Students’ Association are committed to removing barriers encountered by persons with disabilities and to providing an inclusive and supportive environment with a focus on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). This scholarship supports graduate students with disabilities. There will be two awards given out each year, one to a thesis-based student with a disability for $2,500 through the FGS’s GAC and one to a course-based graduate student with a disability for $2,500 through the GSA Awards program.

For the purposes of the GSA/FGS Graduate Student Inclusion Scholarship, a person with a disability is someone who has a 'long-term or recurring physical, mental, sensory, psychiatric or learning impairment(s)' (for the purposes of this questionnaire 'long-term' is defined as lasting more than six months). A person considers themselves to be disadvantaged in employment by reason of that disability, or believes that an employer or potential employer is likely to consider them to be disadvantaged in employment by reason of that disability. This also includes persons with disabilities who have been accommodated in their current job or workplace (e.g., by the use of technical aids, changes to equipment or other working arrangements).
